How many are out there?

I talked with a colleague today, convinced that a new type of relationships "a modern relationship" were often long distance.  Work and other reasons - military, met online - create the reality that we live apart from the one we love.  Be it a spouse or a lover, long distance can be hard but also create opportunities for great communication and growth.  I would love to hear about your long distance love and how you deal with it,the good and the bad.
